The special map showing the world as it really is

The map of the planet we all use in school and appears in the Atlas ... is not correct.
And is that this map, known as the Mercator map, showing Antarctica and Greenland as distorted and disproportionate.
A Japanese artist and architect developed a representation that itself accurately reflects the actual proportions between regions and countries.
And to create was inspired by origami, the ancient Japanese art of paper folding.
The map is called AutaGraph and its author, Hajime Narukawa won him one of the most prestigious design awards in Japan, the Grand Prix Design and Good Design Award, awarded by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion.
Traditional and problematic
The traditional Mercator map was first introduced by Flemish geographer and cartographer Gerardus Mercator in 1569. Mercator was also who started using the term "atlas" to describe a collection of maps.
The system devised by Mercator projection respects the shapes of the continents but not sizes.
Their maps gained popularity and were used for nautical charts and allowing trace routes as straight lines, unlike other more accurate projections.
But the distances between meridians and parallels are between distorted.
And countries and regions near the poles have a much higher than the actual size.
Greenland, for example, is almost as large as Africa, but Africa is 14 times more landmass.
