Barcelona backs veto and allows interviews with its professionals

FC Barcelona, which this afternoon had announced that it would prevent the media outside the club could interview their professional athletes, has reversed this decision, as announced in a statement.

"FC Barcelona reports that the desire to strengthen the media of the club does not have to prevent access to the other media to the information generated by the entity and its protagonists," the club said in a statement.

Barça recalled that "this has been so far and will continue to be so in the future". The Barca entity "regrets the confusion that has occurred in this regard today" and stresses that "the club's commitment to transparency and access to information is firm".

Initially, Barca had decided to prevent the media outside the club from interviewing the Barça players and all the components of their professional sections with the idea of enhancing the exclusive contents of the organization.

The resolution focused on the fact that only the official FC Barcelona media (Barça TV, the magazine of the entity, the website and the profiles in social networks) could have these interviews to enhance their own content.

The club had decided that this decision not only affected the players of the first football team, but also the other components of the professional sections: basketball, handball, indoor football and hockey skates.

A few hours after this decision was announced, the Catalan club has reversed its idea.
